J.G. was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, by a strong and proud, single, Puerto Rican mother and grandparents. His childhood years were spent in and out of trouble, constantly being tossed around in the juvenile detention system. He studied with ISSA, the International Sports Sciences Association, and has a life long affection for the Jacksonville Jaguars. His book, Hooptie in the Hood, is his first published work, born from his experiences growing up on the streets of Duval County.
